Single Tooth Implants
Single tooth implants can be used for patients who are have lost one or more teeth. Dr. Haynes will surgically place the implant into an opening made in the jawbone. Once the implant attaches to your bone, it will function as a "root." A crown or cap, designed to resemble a natural tooth, is affixed to the implant to fill the space in the mouth caused by the lost tooth or teeth.
There must be enough bone in the jaw for dental implants to be successful and the bone needs to be strong enough to support the implant. Bone may need to be added with a procedure called bone augmentation or bone grafting if there is not enough available. In addition, your teeth and supporting tissues near where the implant will be placed must be in good health.
